I've always said on this blog that I'm team rolaids. Recently on a trip to a giant No Frills, after several nights of waking up and not being able to sleep, I had to crack and buy Tums. I never had them before, and wasn't sure what to expect. First, I don't like the bottle. Its tapered and has a weird flip top lid that makes me think of old people. Next, the actual tablets themselves are circular, but lack the smooth and subtle indent of rolaids. However, on the upside, Tums do come in a variety of strengths. I went for Extra (750mg), but there is still and Double Extra if I want to go really crazy in the future.
Overall, pretty ok.
Also, to follow up from the last post, my hand did heal after about 6 weeks. Mechanical bulls suck.

relief

So I ate way too much Indian food last night and woke up in the middle of the night. This happens to me all the time. I sometimes will be awake for an hour and a half. Sometimes taking rolaids helps me sleep better. Its weird because my stomach doesn't feel like its the thing keeping me up but after having one or two of them i go right back to sleep. sometimes.
I was also awake i think because my wrist hurt. I hurt it in a mechanical bull accident a few weeks ago. I should really see a doctor about it, but at this point i'd just feel stupid. Anyways, you can learn more about that in my ihurtmyhandonamechanicalbull blog (forthcoming)
I'm on my third big bottle in the past 6 months. Kim has some of them, but most are me. I'm fine if i eat dinner at like 5 or 6... but if at 8 or 9 i'm toast.
I guess like most product loyalty, I stick to rolaids because that's what my father chews. I tried tums once last year, mostly because I was out of rolaids and there were two bottles laying in the bathroom of the house i lived in (sorry if i stole from mark or rob). They tasted gross and chalky. They lacked the smooth mint flavour. They also took way to long to break down to chewable sizes. Never again.
My sister told me that her boyfriend was told in chef school that you should never ever take Rolaids or tums because artificial antacids screw up your body's natural antacid system and the more antacids you take the less able your body is to settle your stomach itself, which means you have to take more antacids. This never made sense to me because if my body's system was working properly i wouldn't need them. I think its an urban legend but i haven't been able to find any evidence on the Internet to prove this. If anyone knows anything please let me know.
